Frequently Asked Questions

Commissions & Process

Do you accept art commissions?

Yes, I accept commissions for automotive art drawings, paintings and portraits.  With automotive art drawings I offer a variety of commissioned packages; Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige – each with its own features.  For more detail on the pricing, as well as what each package entails, please visit my drawings page.  For more information on automotive pop realism paintings please visit my paintings page.  For more information on automotive portrait artwork visit my portraits page.

How long in advance should I order a commission?

In order to ensure timeous delivery of an artwork, please allow for a lead time of of at least 4 weeks (drawings and portraits) and 8 weeks (paintings).  During my busier times of the year, which are June-August and November-December, please allow for a lead time of 6 weeks (drawings and portraits) and 10 weeks (paintings).  Where possible, please contact me well in advance to ensure you get a slot in my schedule and to avoid disappointment.

Do you need reference photographs to render the artwork?

Yes, I do.  Almost all of my commissioned artworks are based on reference photographs.  Clients should forward 3 to 5 photographs of the views and angles they would like.  I will then review the photos and recommend which ones will work best for the artwork.

In which format should I send reference photos to you?

Good reference photographs form the basis for almost every artwork I create - the more detail I can see, the better the artwork will be. Images should be clear, in focus and captured in high-resolution in JPEG format.

Do I receive a proof before the artwork starts?

Yes, using the reference photographs you’ve sent, I first create and send you a quick digital mockup/layout to show what the final artwork will look like.  After you approve the layout, the commissions process can commence.  I will continue to keep you updated throughout the process.

Can you make custom changes for the artwork?

Reference photos should be 99% ready to be rendered as is.  However, small tweaks and changes i.e. colour, removal of certain unwanted reflections or items, blemishes, adding of personal plates (automotive art), etc. can be made before the commission process begins.

What artwork paper/canvas sizes do you offer?

All my drawings are done on high quality ultra smooth Strathmore Bristol 300gsm board size: 33 x 51cm (13 x 20 inches).  All my paintings are done on premium grade 100% cotton 380gsm fine weave stretched canvas in various sizes starting at 24 x 33 inches and larger.

What kind of mediums do you use for your art?

I only use high quality materials to produce all of my artworks.  For drawings, these include Copic markers, Copic multi-liners, Prismacolor, Faber Castell and Derwent pencils, amongst others.  For paintings, these include Winsor Newton and Daler Rowney professional grade acrylic paints.
